Brachioplasty
Get the Figure You Desire with Arm Lift Surgery
Brachioplasty, also referred to as an arm lift, is a surgical procedure to remove loose skin and fat deposits in the upper arm. With aging or massive weight loss, upper arm skin can become loose and flabby. Surgical removal of excess skin and fat can restore youthful contour to the arm. In patients with mild fat and good skin tone, liposuction alone may provide a good improvement.

An arm lift, also called brachioplasty, is a surgical procedure that aims to improve the contours and shape of the upper arm where fat and excess skin can accumulate. This can cause an unappealing appearance that leaves some patients with ‘wings’. This surgical technique uses incisions and sometimes liposuction to remove excess tissue and rejuvenate the upper arms.
Arm Lift Case
The brachioplasty is an excellent procedure for patients in the Scottsdale, Phoenix, and Glendale, AZ areas who are willing to accept the tradeoff of a scar for improvement in contour. Patients should be in overall good health and able to undergo surgery successfully. Patients that benefit most from an arm lift procedure are those with skin elasticity that is unfavorable for a liposuction procedure alone. Most candidates for an arm lift procedure are those that have excess skin and fat as a result of life events like pregnancy or weight loss.
An arm lift can be performed using two different types of incisions that will be selected based on your goals and anatomy. These include:
Short Scar Incision
This incision is placed within the upper arm or underarm, meaning it can be more easily concealed. This technique is best for less extensive procedures that don’t require large amounts of fat or skin correction.
Long Scar Incision
This type can be placed along the back of the upper arm or along the inside of the upper arm. It allows for more extensive rejuvenation of the skin and contouring of the arm profile, making it a better choice for patients with substantial sagging and excess.

Dr. Paul Angelchik – Brachioplasty Information
Most patients require one or two weeks of downtime before returning to work or school. It’s important to refrain from any lifting or reaching during this time, as this can put strain on your incisions. You can expect some pain and discomfort, but these can be managed with prescribed medications. You may be instructed to take care of drains during the first few days, which are removed in-office during a follow-up appointment. In some cases, compression garments are placed over the surgical site to aid blood flow and help the skin adhere to the new contours.
